Regarding web hosting, there are various providers with different plans, pricing, technologies and support. Some people might have great experience with one hosting company, while someone else may feel that they were terrible. Whether you have a website or a blog, you will need a web host. It does not matter if you are an individual, a small business or a large corporation, you still will need to have a hosting company.
To a certain extent, it has to do with experience. You might start with one hosting company and find that it does not fit your need. Then you may need to get another hosting provider. That’s not a problem. If you own your website, you can just move your site to another hosting company. There are plenty of good web hosts out there.
Like many things in life, when you’re buying a product or service, you need to know what you are looking for. No one can tell you what you’re looking for. It is you or with the help of a web designer, who will have to analyze the need of your website. It is a bit of a challenge to find a hosting provider who is right for your particular application.
If you know what services you’re looking for, then you can find out if that hosting company offers those services and therefore that will save you valuable time. Needs do not have to be complicated. For example, you could have a small business or be an individual who just wants to store their website. So what you would need is a hosting company that rents you storage space. It is as simple as that.
But other people may have greater needs for their site. For instance, you might want to have an e-commerce site. That would require that the hosting company would provide you with a database. For that database, you might need MySql or Sql. Php capability might be needed or if your server program is ASP, that hosting provider should be able to provide you with ASP.
Another consideration you need to take into account, are your future needs. Don’t look at only what you need in the present, but consider where you’ll want to be in 3 and 5 years from now. Will you expand as those years develop? Can your hosting firm deal with your expansion? One of the positive things about location, is that you don’t need to deal with a company that is geographically close to you. You don’t even need one in your same country. It can be located anywhere in the world.
However, be very careful of web hosting providers that offer free web hosting sites. Realize that there is no such thing as “free”. “Free” always comes at a price. In this case, you may be forced to build your website with the hosting company’s online builder. This type of deal is really bad. One, you will not own the website. Also, it will cost you time to make any changes.
Free web hosting sites are designed to trick gullible customers. If you have a website with those organizations, it may be very difficult, and often impossible to customize your site. In addition, you might be required to put up with ads or aggravating watermarks that appear on all the pages of your site. So choose a hosting provider that allows you 24/7 FTP access where you can make changes as you want.
